Increase in the level of investments in 2001

Estimates for the investment activity show an 8 per cent increase in 2001 compared with corresponding figures for 2000, according to the investment survey for the 1. quarter. Investments for 2000 amounted to NOK 17.3 billion in current value. This is a 5 per cent reduction compared with 1999.

Estimates for 2001 covering manufacturing, mining and quarrying and electricity supply indicate an increase in the level of investments compared with 1999 and 2000. In relation to corresponding figures for 2000, estimates for 2001 indicate an 8 per cent increase. Several large projects are in the preliminary phase and it is expected that these will further increase the level of investment. The growth is particularly strong for the industries electricity supply and basic metals.

Investments in 2000 for manufacturing, mining and quarrying and electricity supply amounted to NOK 17.3 billion. This is a 5 per cent reduction compared with the level of 1999. The reduction was 3 per cent for manufacturing and mining and quarrying, while the reduction was 11 per cent for electricity supply.
