  1. This paper examines how an often-overlooked source of pay transparency—the public disclosure of tax information—affects gender wage gaps. We exploit a 2001 change in Norway that made individual tax returns searchable online.

  2. 67.5 percent of fathers use the full father’s quota or more. There has been an increase in the proportion who use all or more of the father’s quota – or paternity leave – from 59.1 percent in 2013 to 67.5 percent in 2024.
