0.9 per cent increase in manufacturing

Preliminary figures for total labour costs in manufacturing show a 0.9 per cent increase from the fourth quarter of 2015 to the first quarter of 2016. The index showed a 2.6 per cent increase from the first quarter of 2015.

The index for oil and gas extraction and mining also showed a 0.9 per cent increase in total labour costs for the first quarter. In comparison construction had an increase of 0.8 per cent and wholesale and retail trade showed an increase of 0.1 per cent.
