Labour costs almost unchanged in manufacturing

Preliminary figures for total labour costs in manufacturing show a 0.1 per cent increase from the third to fourth quarter of 2011. The index showed a 1.4 per cent increase for the same period in 2010.

The index for transport and warehousing showed a 0.2 per cent increase in total labour costs for the fourth quarter, while the index for oil and gas extraction and mining showed a 1.2 per cent decrease in labour costs for the last quarter.
