Continued growth in wholesale and retail trade
While there was little change in the number of enterprises and persons employed in the wholesale and retail trade, turnover increased by 5.4 per cent from 2010 to 2011.
With an increase of 8.6 per cent, trade and repair of motor vehicles had the largest growth in turnover from the year before. The total turnover for this division amounted to NOK 185 billion. Turnover for retail trades amounted to NOK 420 billion; an increase of 3.4 per cent from 2010, while the wholesale trade increased by 5.9 per cent to NOK 746 billion. There were only minor changes in the number of enterprises and persons employed in the three divisions from 2010 to 2011.
Preliminary figures for structural business statistics are only published at enterprise level. Only figures for number of enterprises, persons employed and turnover on a 3-digit industry level are published. The data are not as thoroughly revised as they will be when the final figures are published in May 2013.
Deviation between preliminary and final figures
Comparisons between preliminary and final figures for the wholesale and retail trade in 2009 and 2010 show that the final figures for number of enterprises were 0.4 and 0.6 per cent lower respectively. The final figures for turnover were 0.1 per cent higher in 2009 and 0.3 per cent lower for final figures in 2010. The employment figures were 0.3 per cent lower for final figures in 2009 and 0.1 per cent lower in 2010.
