The proportion of male board representatives of limited companies has not changed in recent years. Eight out of ten board representatives in private limited companies are men, and the corresponding figure in public limited companies is six out of ten.

The female share of board representatives in public limited companies is thus the statutory minimum required for gender balance in company boards.

In private limited companies, 18 per cent of the board representatives are women. The highest share of female board representatives are in activities of households as employers (78 per cent), other service activities (53 per cent) and human health and social work activities (40 per cent). The highest share of male board representatives are in construction (91 per cent), transport and storage, and mining and quarrying, with 87 per cent each.

Private limited companies with only men on their boards make up 72 per cent of the companies. The more representatives there are on a board, the higher the share of enterprises that have both men and women on their boards.

In private limited companies, 16 per cent of general managers are women. Women manage 65 per cent of private limited companies in other service activities and 43 per cent in human health and social work activities.

In public limited companies, 7.2 per cent of general managers are women. From 2004 to 2016, this share rose by 2.6 percentage points.
