Continued growth for architectural and engineering activities

The enterprises within architectural and engineering activities had a turnover of NOK 90.8 billion in 2008, which was an increase of 26 per cent compared to 2007. The number of employed persons was 38 843 in 2008; a growth of 11.1 per cent.

The preliminary figures for structural statistics are published only on enterprise level. In general, the figures for enterprises will show other values than the figures for local kind-of-activity units. This is due to the fact that an enterprise registered with its main activity in one industry may have local kind-of-activity units in other industries. Only figures for the number of enterprises, employees and turnover on a 3-digit industrial level are published. The data have not been as thoroughly revised as they will be at the publishing of the final figures in May 2010.

Revision of industries

From January 2009, the enterprises in Statistic Norway’s Central Register of Establishments and Enterprises have been coded in accordance with the new Standard Industrial Classification (SN2007). The structural business statistics will be published in accordance with the new Standard Industrial Classification (SN2007) for the statistical year 2008. The figures for 2007 will also be published according to SN2007. One of the major changes is that the present Section K will be divided into three new sections: 1) Real estate activities, 2) Professional, scientific and technical activities, and 3) Administrative and support service activities. Furthermore, development and sale of real estate will in the future be a part of the section for construction. Veterinary activities will be a part of the new professional, scientific and technical activities section.
