Increase within employment activities

Preliminary figures show that the turnover within employment activities amounted to a total of NOK 29.4 billion in 2011. This is an increase of 31.1 per cent compared to 2010.

The growth in turnover came after two years with a decreasing turnover. The enterprises operating within temporary employment placement had a total turnover of NOK 28.2 billion and employed approximately 46 000 persons.

Growth within advertising and market research

The 2 440 enterprises within advertising had a total turnover of NOK 19.3 billion in 2011 and employed about 6 700 persons. This is an increase of 7.7 and 2.1 per cent respectively. Within market research and public opinion polling, turnover increased by 2.5 per cent to NOK 1.1 billion. The number of persons employed was 1 300, unchanged compared to 2010.

Increase within real estate activities

Enterprises operating within real estate activities had an increase in turnover of 7.7 per cent, to a total of NOK 120.2 billion. The industry employed 26 600 persons; an increase of 1.5 per cent compared to 2010. The largest growth was within the industry group real estate activities on a fee or contract basis, where turnover increased by 10.4 per cent to a total of NOK 17 billion. Enterprises within renting and operating of own or leased real estate had a turnover of NOK 93.2 billion in 2011. This is an increase of 7.6 per cent compared to 2010.

Increase within all industry sections

These structural business statistics cover the three industry sections Real estate activities, Professional, scientific and technical activities, and Administrative and support service activities. The total turnover was NOK 476 billion. Total employment was approximately 272 000 persons.

Preliminary figures

Preliminary figures for structural business statistics are only published at enterprise level. The data are not as thoroughly revised as they will be when the final figures are published in 18 months.
