Continued decline in retail sales

The seasonally-adjusted volume index of retail sales decreased by 0.6 per cent from June to July this year. From May to June this year, there was also a decline of 0.6 per cent.

Working-day adjusted figures show that retail sales increased by 0.2 per cent in the period May-July this year compared to the same three-month period last year.

Because of new information from respondents, the Index of retail sales of building materials and sales at petrol stations is corrected for June this year. For both the value and the volume index for retail sales in total this constitutes a change of 0.2 per cent.
