Strengthened growth in retail sales

The seasonally-adjusted volume index of retail sales increased by 1.8 per cent from April to May 2018. This follows an increase of 0.7 per cent from March to April 2018.

The long-term trend in retail sales shows a significant increase since the autumn of 2017.

Working-day adjusted figures show that retail sales increased by 2.1 per cent in the period March to May 2018 compared to the same period in 2017.
