Decrease in activities
Popular education organizations arranged 4 100 fewer courses in 2005 than in 2004. The number of courses decreased by 29 per cent since the 2000 and 39 per cent since the 1995.
The popular education organizations arranged 42 800 courses with 596 500 participants and 1 472 000 lessons during 2005. Women made up 57 per cent of all participants. 90 per cent of participants were reported with age. 28 per cent of those were in the age group 14-29. The age group of 30-49 and age group 50 and above accounted for 38 per cent each.
Of all organizations, Folkeuniversitetet - Adult Education Association organized the most courses in 2005, accounting for 13 600 courses with a total of 244 800 participants and 593 000 lessons. Next to Folkeuniversitetet - Adult Education Association was The Workers’ Education Association of Norway in which 4 200 courses with 46 800 participants and 186 500 lessons.
