Kindergarten fees remain stable

Norwegian kindergarten fees decreased by 0.1 per cent from January to August 2008. In public kindergartens household payment fell by 0.5 per cent, while in private kindergarten the fees increased by 0.4 per cent.

Public kindergartens fees had a slight decrease of 0.5 per cent. While the areas in Agder/Rogaland, South Eastern and Western Norway contributed to the decrease, the rest of the country experienced a moderate increase in household payment mainly due to adjustments in additional payment for food and activities.

Households’ payment in private kindergartens increased by 0.8 per cent from January to August 2008. The increase was mainly due to adjustments in additional payment for food and activities.
