75 fatalities so far this year

A total of 75 people lost their lives on Norwegian roads in the first six months of 2014. The number of fatalities was two up from last year, but 24 less than the average for the period from January to June over the last ten years.

Among the 75 fatalities this year, there were 35 drivers, 13 passengers, 10 motorcyclists, 4 cyclists, 9 pedestrians and 4 other road users.

Thirty-three of the fatalities were in collisions and 20 were in accidents where a single vehicle went off the road.

14 fatalities in the June traffic

In June 2014, 14 persons (12 men and 2 women) were killed in road traffic accidents, made up as follows: seven car drivers, four motorcyclists, two cyclists and one other road user.

The average for June over the last 10 years is 23 fatalities. In June last year, 16 persons were killed.
