27 fatalities and 859 injured in December

A total of 574 road traffic accidents were reported to the Norwegian police in December 2004. According to preliminary figures 27 people were killed and 859 were injured in these accidents. 258 persons have been killed and 11 910 injured in road traffic accidents in 2004.

In December 2003 the number of fatalities amounted to 28 killed and 961 injured. Figures for the ten-year period show that 25 were killed and 866 injured on average in December road traffic accidents. Among the 27 people killed in road traffic accidents last month, 17 were drivers of cars, eight were car passengers and two were pedestrians.

258 fatalities in 2004

258 persons have been killed and 11 910 injured in road traffic accidents in 2004. This compares with 280 killed and 11 489 injured in 2003. The average figure from 1995-2004 show that 298 were killed and 11 598 were injured.

The figures for 2003 that are used for comparative purposes in this text are preliminary. The 2003 figures presented in tables 1-10 are final.
