28 killed in January

According to the first overview for January, 28 persons were killed and 716 persons were injured. Of the fatalities last month 17 were drivers of automobile, two passengers of automobile and nine pedestrians.

The first overview for January 2000 showed the same number of persons killed, while 762 were injured. The average number of persons killed an injured for January in the five-year period 1996-2000 was 20 and 746, respectively.

The figures for 2000 presented in tables 1-5 are the last revised. The statistics cover only accidents reported to the police. Consequently, minor accidents and injuries in particular are underrepresented in the injury statistics.
