31 killed in November

According to the first overview for November 31 persons were killed and 887 persons were injured. Of the fatalities last month 11 were drivers of automobile, six passengers of automobile, three motorcyclists, one mopedallist, eight pedestrians and two other road-users.

Most of the victims in road traffic accidents were people in the age group 25-64 and persons over the age of 64, with 14 and nine fatalities. Eight young people between 15 and 24 years of age lost their lives last month.

According to the first overview for November 1999, 29 persons were killed and 815 injured. The average number of this month in the five-year period 1995-1999 shows 24 fatalities and 770 injured.

According to preliminary figures 315 persons have lost their lives and 10 355 were injured in road traffic accidents so far this year. The corresponding preliminary figures for the same period last year were 277 killed and 10 130 injured.

The accident statistics for 1999, which are used for comparative purposes, are preliminary figures published in the Weekly Bulletin of Statistics, Road Traffic Accidents Involving Personal Injury, November 1999. The figures for 1999 presented in tables 1-5 are final. The statistics cover only accidents reported to the police. Consequently, minor accidents and injuries in particular are underrepresented in the injury statistics.
