More guest nights this summer

The number of guest nights in Norwegian hotels increased by 6 per cent in September 2004 compared with September last year. The number of guest nights by Norwegians increased by 6 per cent, while the foreign guest nights increased by 7 per cent. In summer this year - May to September - the hotels recorded 8.5 millions guest nights

The British, Swedish and the American market were the three largest foreign hotel markets in September this year, with a 19, 1 and 8 per cent increase respectively. Germany was the fourth largest foreign market and had a decrease by 6 per cent compared with September last year.

Increase this summer

In summer this year (May to September), the collective accomodation establishments recorded 15.7 millions guest nights - an increase of 5 per cent compared with summer last year. Both Norwegians and foreign guest nights increased.

January to September

The total number of guest nights so far in 2004 is 15.7 million. This is an increase of 5 per cent compared with the same period last year, and the increase is evenly distributed between Norwegian guests and foreign guests.

1.8 million guest nights

The total number of guest nights in Norwegian accommodation establishments in September came to 1.8 million, an increase of 9 per cent compared with September last year.
