Guest nights by Norwegians increased

The number of guest nights in Norwegian hotels increased by 3 per cent in August compared with August last year. The number of guest nights by Norwegians increased by 4 per cent, but there was no increase for foreign guest.

Despite a 10 per cent fall in guest nights compared with last year, Germany was still the largest market in August.

Higher room rates and lodging revenue

The average room rate in August was NOK 682 and the lodging turnover was NOK 781 millions. This is an increase compared with August last year.

Increased occupancy rates

Compared with August last year, the occupancy rate both for rooms and beds increased.

January to August

The total number of guest nights so far in 2004 is 11.91 million. This is an increase of 5 per cent compared with the same period last year, and the increase is evenly distributed between Norwegian guests and foreign guests.

3.7 million guest nights

The total number of guest nights in Norwegian accommodation establishments in August came to 3.7 million, an increase of 4 per cent compared with August last year.
