Good month for hotels

The number of guest nights in Norwegian hotels increased by 7 per cent in July compared with July last year. The number of guest nights by Norwegians increased by 10 per cent, whereas the increase was 4 per cent for foreign guests.

Despite a 6 per cent fall in guest nights compared with last year, Germany was still the largest market in July.

Higher room rates and lodging revenue

The average room rate in July was NOK 649 compared with NOK 637 in July last year. Lodging turnover increased from NOK 709 million in July last year to NOK 768 million in July this year.

Increased occupancy rates

Compared with July last year, the occupancy rate for both rooms and beds increased.

January to July

The total number of guest nights so far in 2003 is 9.97 million, up 5 per cent from last year.

5.3 million guest nights

The total number of guest nights in Norwegian accommodation establishments in July came to 5.3 million, an increase of 4 per cent compared with July last year.
