More guest nights at camping sites

Guest nights at the camping sites had an increase of 3.5 per cent compared with March last year. Norwegians increased by 1 per cent and foreigners had an increase of 21 per cent.

March has relatively few foreign guest nights. Consequently the 21 per cent increase constitutes 3 542 guest nights only. For the camping sites the portion of foreign guest nights was 13 per cent, while the corresponding portion for the hostels was 43 per cent. The holiday dwellings, on the other hand, had more foreign guest nights than Norwegian ones.

1.71 million guest nights

In March 2004, there were 1.71 million guest nights at the Norwegian collective accommodation establishments, an increase of 9 per cent compared with March last year. The figures are not directly comparable with those for the same period last year, due to change in the way of reporting. When using the old manner, the increase was approximately 6.6 per cent.

Increase in Sweden

According to preliminary figures from Statistics Sweden, The number of guest nights at Swedish collective establishments increased a little less than 1 per cent and reached a level of 2,3 million guest nights compared with March last year.
