Slight decrease in number of guest nights

The number of guest nights at Norwegian collective accommodation establishments decreased by 0.1 per cent, from 1.215 million in November 2002 to 1.214 million in November 2003. The domestic demand increased by 0.4 per cent, while the foreign demand decreased by 3.5 per cent.

The three largest foreign markets in November, Sweden, the United Kingdom and Denmark all decreased. The fourth largest, Germany, increased by 14 per cent.

Increase for camping sites

The number of guest nights at camping sites increased by 11 per cent compared with November 2002.

Members of Hostelling International Norway recorded a decrease in the number of guest nights by 14 per cent, while holiday dwellings increased by 3 per cent. Hotels decreased by 1 per cent. One reason for this increase for holiday dwellings is that some of the establishments earlier incorrectly were categorised as hotels. Hotels and Camping were about unchanged.

January - November

After the first eleven months in 2003, the number of guest nights has decreased in by 3 per cent compared with the same period in 2002.

Decrease in Sweden

The number of guest nights at Swedish collective establishments increased by 0.4 per cent compared with November 2002.
