Less guest nights

The number of guest nights at Norwegian collective accommodation establishments decreased by 0.6 per cent, from 1.31 millions in October last year to 1,30 millions in October 2003. The domestic demand decreased by 0.4 per cent, while the foreign demand decreased by 1.5 per cent.

The four largest foreign markets in October, Sweden, the United Kingdom, Denmark and Germany all decreased.

Decrease for hostels

Members of Hostelling International Norway recorded a decrease in the number of guest nights by 9 per cent compared with October last year, while holiday dwellings increased by 14 per cent. One reason for the increase for holiday dwellings is that some of the establishments were earlier incorrectly categorised as hotels. Hotels and Camping were about unchanged.

Fewer guest nights so far this year

After the first ten months in 2003, there has been a decrease in the number of guest nights by 3 per cent compared with the same period last year.

Increase in Sweden

The number of guest nights at Swedish collective establishments increased by 2.4 per cent compared with October last year.
