Increased use of public transport

Public transport increased by 2.5 million passengers from the third quarter of 2014 to the same period in 2015. All passenger growth was on rails and by boat, while passenger transport by scheduled buses had a minor setback.

Railways, trams and the underground had a total passenger growth of more 3.6 million passengers, or 6.7 per cent, from the third quarter of 2014 to the corresponding quarter in 2015. Boats had at the same time a passenger growth of 287 thousand, an increase of 10.0 per cent. At the same time we had a 1.4 million reduction in number of boardings on scheduled buses (1.8 per cent reduction).

More kilometres offered

Public transport increased produced kilometres by 2.4 per cent, or 2.4 million kilometres, from the third quarter of 2014 to the same period in 2015. Tram, underground and light rail reduced kilometres offered by 7.0 per cent, or 33 thousand.

Increased ticket revenues

Overall, ticket revenues increased by 6.7 per cent from the third quarter of 2014 and totalled more than NOK 3.0 billion in the third quarter of 2015. The strongest growth was by tram, underground and light rail, which increased by 9.8 per cent.
