Unaltered public transport

After a long period of continuous growth, public transport was unchanged in the fourth quarter of 2011 compared to the same period in 2010.

Number of passengers. Quarter. 1 000. Preliminary figures

For the first time in two years, use and production of public transport were almost unchanged when comparing the fourth quarters in 2010 and 2011. The distribution between modes of transport also remained unchanged.

Increased ticket revenues for bus, reduction for boat and train

Despite stable passenger figures, ticket revenues for buses increased by about NOK 85 million, or 8.1 per cent. Income from boats and trains showed a slightly stronger decrease. This reduction mainly seems to emanate from shorter trips. It is also worth mentioning that zones and fares underwent a major revision in the Oslo area during this period.

Increase in 2011

Summing up the quarters in 2011, there is a total increase of 25 million passengers in 2011 compared to 2010. The growth was approximately 5 per cent for both bus and rail, while boat fell by 4 per cent.
