Operating income and operating costs, computer and related activities. Local KAUs 2001-2004. Billion NOK

The growth continues within computer related industries, turning from a negative operating result in 2002 to a NOK 3.5 billion positive result in 2005. This was a 53 per cent increase from 2004. The growth can be explained by increasing operating incomes.

High profitability in consultancy services

The values created by businesses within software consultancy and supply mounted to NOK 18,4 billion, an increase of NOK 1,3 billion. The operating margin was 7.4 per cent. 27 409 persons were employed, and total wages and socials costs ended at NOK 14,6 billon.

Large enterprises dominate

9 617 enterprises were registered in the computer related industry in 2005. This is 53 enterprises less than in 2004.In 2005, 7 047 of the total businesses had 0 or 1 employee. The valued added was greatest in the large enterprises with more than 50 employees.

Revision of industries

The industry division computer and related activities divide the enterprises in 6 different groups, according to value added in different services. Most of the enterprises have activities within more groups, and how much they earn from the different services can vary from one year to the next. This makes the industry placing difficult. A revision of industries in the Central Register of Establishments and Enterprises, has caused large enterprises to be moved to other industry groups, which has reflected the figures. The group data processing showed a large increase in turnover from 2004 to 2005, but this could largely be attributed to a movement within the division. Thus it did not have an effect on the total figures for computer and related activities.
