Continued growth in computer activities

Turnover in computer and related activities amounted to NOK 62.3 billion in 2007, an increase of 13.4 per cent from the previous year. The increase is slightly higher than from 2005 to2006. The industry consisted of almost 9 900 enterprises and 41 000 employees in 2007.

The largest industry group within computer and related activities is software consultancy and supply. 8 522 enterprises with 30 556 employees had a total turnover of NOK 43.6 billion in 2007. Turnover increased by 12.8 per cent from 2006.

Highest growth in database activities

The industry group database activities had the highest relative turnover increase in computer and related activities with a growth of 26 per cent. Turnover was NOK 3.7 billion in 2007. At the same time the number of enterprises and employees went from 686 and 2 103 in 2006 to 769 and 2 404 in 2007. In the industry group data processing, turnover increased far more than employment. Growth in employment was only 0.6 per cent from 2006 to 2007 while turnover increased by 12.1 percent. Turnover per employee was thus NOK 2.03 million in 2007.

Preliminary figures

The preliminary figures for number of enterprises, turnover and employment are published while data are still being revised and may therefore deviate somewhat from final figures published at a later date. While preliminary figures are published on the enterprise level only, final figures are published on both the enterprise level and the local kind-of-activity unit level.
