Largest total value added in big enterprises

The industry division has an overweight of small enterprises with 0-4 employed people. 24 per cent of the employed people belonged to such enterprises in 2003, but their proportion of total value added only came to 13 per cent. The larger enterprises with more than 50 employed people had a 44 per cent proportion of the employment and 56 per cent of total value added. Hence, they had the largest total value added per employed person.

Statistics on the enterprise level

The structural business statistics for computer and related activities are compiled both on the local KAU level and on the enterprise level. On the enterprise level the turnover amounted to NOK 41.2 billion and 35 732 people were employed in 2003. Figures on the enterprise level will usually deviate somewhat from figures compiled on the local KAU level due to the fact that their enterprises are registered in the industry subclass that comprises the main part of the activity of the enterprise, and therefore may be registered in a different industry than some of the local KAUs. More detailed information about this and other definitions used in the structural business statistics for computer and related activities is available in "About the statistics".

Revision of industries

In the 2003 survey the enterprises were asked to divide the turnover on services. This resulted in a revision of industries in the Central Register of Establishments and Enterprises and some large enterprises were moved to other industry divisions. For this reason the figures are more precise in 2003, but it was done at the expense of the comparability with previous years.
