Increase in software consultancy and supply

Software consultancy and supply is the biggest service within computer and related activities. This group had a turnover of NOK 34.7 billion and employed 27 111 people in 2004. This constitutes 75 per cent of total employment within the industry

Revision of industries

The industry division computer and related activities divide the enterprises in 6 different groups, according to value added in different services. Most of the enterprises have activities within more groups, and how much they earn from the different services can vary from one year to the next. This makes the industry placing difficult. A revision of industries in the Central Register of Establishments and Enterprises, has caused large enterprises to be moved to other industry groups, which has reflected the figures. The group data processing showed a large increase in turnover from 2004 to 2005, but this could largely be attributed to a movement within the division. Thus it did not have an effect on the total figures for computer and related activities.

Preliminary figures

The preliminary figures for number of enterprises, turnover and employment are published while data are still being revised and may therefore deviate somewhat from final figures published at a later date. While preliminary figures are published on the enterprise level only, final figures are published on both the enterprise level and the local kind-of-activity unit level.

The method for calculating employment was changed in 2005. Because of this, employment figures for 2005 are not directly comparable with the figures for 2004. For more information, see About the statistics .
