Obs:

Between the 2025 and 2026 publications (apprentice cohorts 2020 and 2021), there is a discontinuity in the time series resulting from changes to the production process and the inclusion of a more comprehensive data basis. The expanded data availability means that more persons are identified with characteristics that exclude them from the apprentice population. At the same time, more persons with vocational contracts are identified and therefore excluded from the population, and more completions are detected. Measured for the 2020 apprentice cohort, this results in the apprentice population being reduced by approximately 800 persons compared with the previous publication. At the same time, the proportion completing within two years is approximately 4 percentage points higher under the new production process, while the proportion not completing within four years is approximately 4 percentage points lower. Some of the changes between the 2020 and 2021 apprentice cohorts must therefore be attributed to this discontinuity and not necessarily to a real change in completion outcomes among apprentices.
The data has been perturbed to protect confidentiality, meaning that statistical disclosure control methods have been applied. As a result, the values contain a small degree of uncertainty.
With this suppression method cells with 0 (zero) pupils, can be a mix of real zeros and small values that would be revealing otherwise.
The apprentice population consists of persons who became apprentices five years before the publication year. For publication year 2026, the apprentice population therefore consists of persons who started an apprenticeship during the 2021/2022 school year. After persons who have been registered as apprentices have been identified, the population is further restricted by excluding those who have been apprentices or have taken a trade or vocational examination during the two preceding years. This definition means that a person may be included in the apprentice population more than once if they have a break of more than two years between apprenticeship periods or between attempts to complete a trade or vocational examination.
