Fra 2014 gir GSIinformasjon om antall elever i grunnskolealder i andre kommuner enn vertskommunen. dIndikatoren vil derfor gi et mer korrekt tall.Før 2014 var ikke antall elever i grunnskolealder i kommunenes kultur- og musikkskole alltid direkte sammenlignbart med antall 6-15 åringer i kommunen. Dette kan være på grunn av elever til/fra andre kommuner og registreringer av elever i interkommunale kultur- og musikkskoler. I kommuner 'med høy' dekningsgrad kan det være elever i den interkommunale musikkskolen som er registrert i denne kommunen. Kommuner med 'null' i denne indikatoren kan likevel ha elever i en interkommunal musikkskole som er lokalisert i annen kommune. Den kommunen som innehar eller administrerer den interkommunale musikkskolen vil da i de fleste tilfeller ha unormal høy dekningsgrad.
