NOK 5.4 billion to the national child welfare

Expenditures to the national child welfare service increased by NOK 400 million from 2008 to 2009. Expenditures for the last five years increased by NOK 1.9 billion, or 55 per cent.

The number of children in foster homes increased by 8 per cent last year. In the past five years, the number of children in foster homes has increased by 1 000. Expenditures have increased even more. In 2004, the expenditures for foster homes were NOK 434 million, and in 2009 they totalled NOK 1 293 million.
