A good year for TV and radio

The businesses within cultural services had a value added of NOK 5 billion in 2005. This is an 8 per cent increase from the previous year. Employment reached 9 542 people. Businesses within television and radio had the largest increase.

The statistics consists of the industry groups radio and television activities, motion picture and video activities and news agency activities.

The businesses within radio and television had a value added of NOK 3,6 billion in 2005, and this is an 11 per cent increase from the previous year. Operating results ended at NOK 283 million and employment 6 000 persons.

More in film and video

1 510 businesses were employed in motion picture and video activities. This is 202 more than in 2004. The industry employed 1 349 persons, a 7 per cent increase from the previous year. Total wage costs mounted to NOK 366 million.

Profitable news agencies

Value added news agencies increased by 5 per cent to NOK 431 million from 2004. Operating incomes increased, while operating costs were nearly unchanged. Operating margin was 18 per cent.

Preliminary figures

The preliminary figures for number of enterprises, turnover and employment are published while data are still being revised and may therefore deviate somewhat from final figures published at a later date. While preliminary figures are published on the enterprise level only, final figures are published on both the enterprise level and the local kind-of-activity unit (business) level.
