Forest planting in 2015 was at its highest since 2001. In 2015, a total of 17 200 hectares were planted, an increase of 1 400 hectares from the year before.

About 45 per cent of all forest planting in Norway was carried out in the counties of Hedmark and Oppland. A total of 4 400 and 3 100 hectares were planted in Hedmark and Oppland respectively.

More scarification

In total, 7 200 hectares were scarificated in 2015; an increase of 7 per cent from 2014.

Tending of young stands was applied to a total of 27 600 hectares, which is 610 hectares more than the previous year.

NOK 324 million invested

In total, NOK 324 million was invested in silviculture, an increase of NOK 29 million from 2014. NOK 163 million was invested in forest planting and NOK 107 million in tending of young stands. The remaining amount was invested in scarification, clearing, fertilising and similar work. Government subsidies accounted for NOK 72 million of the costs.
