Compared with 1993, the value of shares and securities has tripled, the bank deposits have increased by 20 per cent. Real properties have increased by seven per cent, all measured in fixed prices. Some of the increase in the value of shares and securities originate from alterations in the valuation of shares came in 1998, but there has nonetheless been a large increase in share savings in the period.

About the statistics basis

The statistics covers persons 17 years or more, resident in Norway. In 1993 there were 3 380 631 resident persons 17 years or more, while in 2001 there were 3 508 217 persons. All amounts in 1993 are converted to NOK-2001. All property values are listed with taxation value. The numbers are not corrected with alterations in the valuation of shares that came in 1998. For real property it is often a large deviation between taxation value and sales value.
