Since 2004, oil production has declined each year, but in the first half of 2014 it increased. The total production of oil amounted to 42.5 million Sm3 oil equivalents (o.e) ; an increase of 1.6 per cent or 0.7 million Sm3 o.e. There were 68 oil fields in production in the first six months of 2014. The oil fields with the highest production were Troll, Ekofisk and Snorre.

Decreased gas production

In the first half of 2014, the gas production amounted to 54 million Sm3 o.e. This is a decrease of 1.4 million Sm3 o.e. or 2.5 per cent. The production of gas made up about 49 per cent of the total petroleum production . A total of 63 fields produced gas in the first quarter of 2014. Troll, Ormen Lange and Åsgard are the fields with the highest gas production.
