Strong start in manufacturing

The total turnover within Norwegian manufacturing amounted to NOK 61 billion 2 in January 2007. This is an increase of 22.6 per cent 2 from the same period in 2006. The turnover increased in both domestic and export market, with 25.1 and 19.2 per cent respectively.

According to seasonally adjusted figures, intermediate goods, capital goods and consumer goods all show a growth in the three-month period from November to January when compared to the previous three-month period. The increases within intermediate goods and consumer goods are mainly due to the export marked. Although an increase within intermediate goods in the last three-month period from November to January when compared to August to October, intermediate goods experienced a decrease of 4.1 per cent, from December 2006 to January 2007.

Norwegian oil and gas extraction

Turnover within Norwegian oil and gas extraction amounted to almost NOK 48 billion, a decrease of 1 per cent when compared to January 2006. Prices on crude oil were NOK 346 in January 2007, whereas prices achieved in the same period in 2006 were NOK 422, according to External trade figures .
