Stable turnover in manufacturing

Turnover in manufacturing was approximately NOK 36.5 billion in July 2002. This is a decrease of 0.1 per cent from July last year. Revenues in intermediate goods were considerably lower than in the same period last year.

Changes within intermediate goods are related to a decrease within export-related industries. The turnover in pulp, paper and paper products, basic chemicals and basic metals industries continue to decline. The turnover in manufacture of basic metals was approximately NOK 2.3 billion in July, a 22 per cent decrease. Figures for pulp, paper and paper products declined by 29 percent compared with the same period last year. Basic chemicals turnover was about NOK 1.7 billion and represents a 30 per cent drop since July 2001. There has been an increase in turnover in food products, beverages and tobacco and in publishing and printing in July this year compared with July last year.

Turnover in manufacturing in 2002

The turnover in manufacturing has declined by 0.8 per cent during the first seven months, compared with the same period last year. There has been an evident decline within intermediate goods. Turnover in basic metals has been NOK 19 billion, a 20 per cent lower figure than same period last year. In basic chemicals the turnover was approximately NOK 13 billion, a decline of 25 per cent. There has been an increase in turnover in capital goods.
