The fall in the production can be viewed in conjunction with lower spot prices in May than forward prices of 3. and 4 quarter in 2009. The filling was above the median during May and amounted to 47.8 per cent at the end of week 22. The median filling for the corresponding period in the last 17 years is 47.2 per cent.

All time low consumption of electricity in power intensive manufacturing

The electricity consumption in power intensive manufacturing amounted to 2189 GWh in May 2009. This is a decline of 25.5 per cent compared with the corresponding month in 2008 and the lowest figure ever recorded for May.

The electricity consumption excluding power intensive manufacturing amounted to 5 487 GWh in May 2009, a decline of 2.8 per cent compared with the corresponding month in 2008. Households, services and other manufacturing than the power-intensive account for the majority of the consumption.

Net export of power

Norway’s imports of power came to 615 GWh in May, while exports totalled 880 GWh. This gave a net export of 265 GWh. So far this year, Norway has a net export of 1 219 GWh.
