Lower electricity production

The production of power in July was 7 992 GWh. This is 6.6 per cent lower than in June this year, and 13.0 per cent lower than in July 2005. The electricity production so far this year has been 5.7 per cent lower than in the same period last year.

The net export (export minus import) in July was 445 GWh. So far this year the net export has been 1 521 GWh. The average yearly net export in the period 2000-2005 was almost 3 TWh. The yearly average for the nineties was 2.8 TWh and in the eighties 5.3 TWh.

Gross domestic consumption of electricity is so far in 2006 74 002 GWh. This represents a rise of 0.3 per cent compared to 2005. Consumption in energy-intensive manufacturing was reduced with 6.6 per cent and amounted to 2 628 GWh in July. The total for consumption in energy intensive manufacturing for the period January to July has been reduced with 6.4 per cent compared to last year.
