Electricity production remains high

The high level in electricity production continues also in August. The production of electricity totalled 9 407 GWh, this was 23.3 per cent higher compared with august 2004. Heavy rainfall resulted in higher reservoir filling. Net exports amounted to 996 GWh.

The gross domestic consumption of electricity rose by 4.6 per cent from august 2004 to august 2005 and was 8 411GWh. Monthly temperature for the entire country was 0,5 degrees higher than normal. The electricity consumption in energy-intensive manufacturing was 2 866 GWh a small decrese compared with the same period last year.

Gross domestic consumption subtracted consumption in energy-intensive manufacturing rose by 8,9 per cent and amounted to 5 545 GWh.

In August import of electricity was 245 GWh and exports amounted to 1 245 GWh. This resulted in a net export of 996 GWh. So far this year, the total net exports has been 7 280 GWh.
