Marked rise in electricity production

The production of electricity totalled 9 200 GWh in July this year. This is a marked increase of 45 per cent compared with July last year. The high level of production resulted in net exports of 1 072 GWh in July. In comparison, Norway imported 1 410 GWh of power in July last year.

In July, imports and exports amounted to 1561GWh and 1 228 GWh respectively. So far this year, exports total 8 622 GWh, almost three times higher than in the same period in 2004.

The gross domestic consumption of electricity rose by 5.4 per cent in July compared with July last year and is now 8 128 GWh. The electricity consumption in energy-intensive manufacturing was 2 813 GWh and approximately on par with July 2004.
