High production of power

The production of power came to 13 386 GWh in January - an increase of 8.5 per cent compared to the same moth last year. Gross consumption of power made up 12 717 GWh, which gave a net export of 669 GWh.

Production, consumption and export surplus of electric energy per month. GWh.

The production of power was amounted to 13 386 GWh in January 2005, which is 7.4 per cent higher than the average in this month for the last ten years. The high production is mainly due to the water level in the reservoirs and much precipitation. The reservoir level was 67.5 per cent of total capacity in middle of January. The median is 65.1 per cent. The precipitation in Norway came to 185 per cent of the normal in January.

High consumption in powerintensive industries

The consumption in powerintensive industries made up 2 973 GWh in January - an increase of 8.2 per cent from January 2004. The consumption outside powerintensive industries came to 9 744 GWh in January a decrease of 3.6 per cent from the same moth last year. Norway exported 1 110 GWh and imported 441 GWh in January. October 2003 was the last month Norway net exported power.
