Production, consumption and export surplus of electric energy per month. GWh.

The production of power came to 7 742 GWh in June 2004 - a decrease of 2.7 per compared with the corresponding month last year. Average production amounted to 8 224 GWh in June for the last ten years. The total production of power has come to 56 892 GWh so far this year compared with 52 460 GWh in the corresponding period last year.

Increased consumption of power

Gross consumption of power increased in June compared with the same month in 2003. The consumption came to 8 116 GWh in 2004 and 7 835 GWh last year. Higher consumption in power-intensive manufacturing is the main cause for this increase. The consumption in power-intensive manufacturing increased by 9.5 per cent compared with June 2003. The total consumption of power is 62 490 GWh so far this year. This is an increase of 6.1 per compared with the corresponding period last year.

Net import of power

The import and export of power from Norway was amounted to 851 GWh and 477 GWh in June, which gives a net import of 374 GWh. It was a net export of 118 GWh in June last year. The power transmission with the foreign countries gave an import surplus of 5 598 GWh in the 6 first months of the year. The same period in 2003 gave an import surplus of 6 458 GWh.
