Construction, new orders (discontinued)Q1 2002

Statistics Norway has decided to stop the publication of the Construction, new orders from the first quarter of 2018. One reason for this was that the statistic previously was a part of Eurostat's regulation for short-term statistics, but this requirement was removed from the regulation in 2012.

Sharp increase in civil engineering orders

The inflow of new orders in the civil engineering sector is rising. From the 1s t quarter last year to the 1s t quarter this year it rose by 35 per cent.

Company reserves of civil engineering works were 33 per cent higher in the 1st quarter of this year compared with the same period last year. The value of company reserves for the entire construction industry rose by 11 per cent from the 1s t quarter of 2001 to the 1s t quarter of 2002.

Decrease in building orders

Since the 1s t quarter last year the inflow of building orders has decreased by 7 per cent. This decrease is caused by a low inflow of new non-residential building orders, which had a decrease of 17 per cent. For renovation of non-residential buildings the inflow of orders increased by 8 per cent. Company reserves for non-residential buildings fell by 4 per cent during the 1s t quarter of 2002, but compared to the 1s t quarter of 2001 it rose by 10 per cent.

New orders for residential buildings during the 1s t quarter this year are at the same high level as the same period last year. The value of house building orders is also at a stable high level.
