Growth in loans to nearly all counties

Total loans from banks and mortgage companies to Norwegian counties increased by 3.2 per cent in 2013. All counties except Sør-Trøndelag experienced growth in loans.

Total loans from banks and mortgage companies to Norwegian counties amounted to NOK 3 806 billion at the end of 2013. This was an increase from NOK 3 689 billion the year before.

Rogaland county had the strongest growth

Loans to Rogaland from banks and mortgage companies totalled NOK 391 billion at the end of 2013; an increase of 7.1 per cent compared to the previous year. Rogaland constituted 10.3 per cent of total loans to Norwegian counties. The annual growth in loans to Hedmark and Buskerud counties was 6.0 per cent to end-2013. These two counties constituted 2.8 per cent and 4.6 per cent respectively of total loans from banks and mortgage companies.

Fall in loans to Sør-Trøndelag county

Banks and mortgage companies’ loans to Sør-Trøndelag amounted to NOK 215 billion at end-2013, marginally down from NOK 216 billion the year before. The annual growth in loans was -0.5 per cent to end-2013.

Weaker growth in loans to employees

Loans from banks and mortgage companies to Norwegian employees amounted to NOK 2 036 billion at end-2013. The annual growth was 7.3 per cent; a decrease from 7.7 per cent to end-2012. Møre og Romsdal had the strongest growth in loans among Norwegian counties, with an annual growth of 8.7 per cent to end-2013. Nordland county had the weakest growth of 4.1 per cent in the same period. These two counties constituted 4.9 per cent and 3.8 per cent respectively of the total loans from banks and mortgage companies.
