Highest loan growth in Rogaland

Total loans from banks and mortgage companies to Norwegian counties amounted to NOK 3 689 billion at end-2012, up from NOK 3 483 billion the previous year. This corresponds to an increase of 5.9 per cent.

The growth was highest in Rogaland county, where the loans increased by NOK 37 billion, or 10.5 per cent, during the last year. Oslo and Nordland followed with a 7.5 and 6.4 per cent growth respectively.

Increasing loans to employees

Total loans by county from banks and mortgage companies to employees was NOK 1 897 billion at the end of 2012. This was an increase of NOK 135 billion, or 7.7 per cent, compared to end-2011.

Employees in Rogaland had the highest annual loan increase. Their loan raisings amounted to NOK 225 billion at the end of 2012, up by 21.4 per cent from the previous year. Wage earners in Rogaland held a share of 11.8 per cent of all Norwegian employees’ borrowings in banks and mortgage companies at the end of year.

Loans to wage earners in Østfold increased to NOK 89 billion to end-2012. This was a rise of NOK 3 billion, or 3.7 per cent, from the end of 2011. Employees in Østfold thus had the lowest loan growth among the counties in mainland Norway

New institutional sector classification Open and readClose

The Norwegian institutional sector classification was revised on 1 January 2012 in line with the international classification. This change entails a break in the statistics for the accounting statistics for financial corporations from March 2012.
