Rising assets and liabilities abroad

Non-financial companies had more assets and liabilities abroad in 2010 than in the previous year. The decline from 2009 has been regained and the figures are higher than they were in 2008. Total assets and total liabilities correspondingly rose 14 per cent and 12 per cent from 2009 to 2010.

Non-financial companies had a total of NOK 1 459 billion in assets in foreign countries in 2010, which was a whopping NOK 175 billion more than the year before. Total liabilities increased by NOK 120 billion to NOK 1 114 billion in the same period. The companies have never had more assets or liabilities abroad before.
