Short of 545 women

The boardrooms of the public limited companies are 545 women short of fulfilling the requirements concerning gender representation, But the number of companies with women on the board are increasing.

As of 1st. of July only 151 of 510 public limited companies fulfil the requirements of 40 per cent of women representation in the boardroom. Almost every third public limited company have no women on the board at all.

But more of the enterprises fulfil the requirements now than half a year ago. The percentage that fulfil has risen from 17,5 per cent to 29,6 per cent.

New figures from Statistics Norway show that as of 1 July 2006, 32 per cent of public limited companies fulfilled the legal requirement for employer representatives, while 51 per cent of public limited companies fulfilled the requirement for employee representatives.
