A lack of more than 600 women

Only 17.5 per cent of public limited companies fulfil the requirements for gender representation in the boardroom. Two hundred and fifteen enterprises have no women on the board at all.

New figures from Statistics Norway show that as at 1 January 2006, 20 per cent of public limited companies fulfilled the legal requirement for employer representatives, while 51 per cent of public limited companies fulfilled the requirement for employee representatives. Twenty nine per cent of enterprises that are subject to requirements regarding both employer and employee representatives, fulfilled both requirements.
