The number of bankruptcies continues to go up. In the 3rd quarter of 2013, the number of bankruptcies was 908, an increase of 8 per cent since the same quarter in 2012.

The number of bankruptcies continues to go up. In the third quarter of 2013, the total number of bankruptcies was 908. This is an increase of 8 per cent compared with the same quarter in 2012.

The figure shows the development of the number of bankruptcies related to enterprises and sole proprietorships including personal bankruptcies from the third quarter of 2003 to the third quarter of 2013

The largest increases in percentage terms were in the counties of Møre og Romsdal, Vestfold and Østfold, with 33, 24 and 23 per cent more bankruptcies respectively. The largest rises in absolute figures were in the counties of Akershus and Møre og Romsdal, with 16 and 14 more bankruptcies respectively.

In the counties of Rogaland, Nord-Trøndelag, Hordaland og Sogn og Fjordane, the number of bankruptcies went down.

A total of 686 bankruptcies related to enterprises (except sole proprietorships). Thirty per cent of these were in wholesale and retail trade. The remaining 222 bankruptcies related to sole proprietorships and personal bankruptcies. One out of three were in construction.

From January to September this year, 3 408 bankruptcies were registered. This is an increase of 21 per cent compared with the same period in 2012.
